KINGSTON CHIROPRACTOR SENTENCED TO MAXIMUM PRISON TIME FOR POSSESSING MATERIALS OF CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION
KINGSTON, NY – On December 12, 2025, Dr. John Boyle, age 34, of Kingston, was sentenced to 2 1/3 to 7 years indeterminate state prison on the counts of Promoting and Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child and Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, and 1 1/3 to 4 years indeterminate state prison on the counts of Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, all to run consecutively with each other for a total of 7.3 to 20 years in state prison, by the visiting Honorable James R. Farrell. The defendant will further be required to register as a sex offender prior to his release from prison.
The sentence followed a hearing to determine whether the defendant had violated the terms of his plea agreement. Specifically, on November 16, 2025, the defendant was arrested by the Town of Ulster Police Department for assault against his 19-month-old child. The defendant was subsequently indicted on November 20, 2025, by the Ulster County Grand Jury on the counts of Assault in the 2nd Degree, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Aggravated Harassment in the 2nd Degree.
The defendant’s sentence is the result of a lengthy investigation by the New York State Police. The defendant was found in possession of thousands of images and videos containing child sexual abuse material. The defendant also shared several of the images via text message, Session and Telegram with his wife, Danielle Scofield-Boyle and additional unknown parties. It remains unknown who the children are, where they are from, and who originated the images and videos and where they were made. We also do not know how old the images are or the present ages of those depicted in them.
“I had the privilege of meeting with the members of this community who have been rocked by the actions of this defendant,” said Senior Assistant District Attorney Jenna Hastings at sentencing. “I have seen a lot of CSAM materials, and this was by far the worst. It stays with me. Mr. Boyle is a danger to this community and a danger to children, including his own.”
Judge Farrell stated at sentencing that the materials Boyle possessed were “disgusting” and, although the victims are not known and cannot be here in court, “they exist.”
Ulster County DA Emmanuel Nneji said, “Dr. John Boyle was a fraud on the community in character. He presented a façade; people accepted and trusted him, believing that what they saw about him was true, only to be shattered by the revelation of his dark existence. The outrage felt by our community is salient; we must remain vigilant and care to see that the child and human traffickers that produce these materials across this country and the world are exposed, vigorously prosecuted and locked up. I also call on our State Government to adjust our laws to punish equally those who possess these materials and those who create them.”
The case was prosecuted by Senior Felony ADA Jenna Hastings. The investigation was handled by the New York State Police. The defendant is represented by Vincent Scala of New York City.
Anyone who suspects trafficking or sexual exploitation of children is encouraged to call the New York State Police or any other law enforcement agency or 911.
